DeMoss is a communications and creative professional with a passion for using storytelling, strategy, and creativity to strengthen nonprofits and build meaningful connections within the community.
Following her graduation from the University of Pittsburgh at Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ in 2018, DeMoss spent several years with Duncan Financial Group, where she built a strong foundation in real-world marketing communications and gained experience translating organizational goals into effective communications and creative strategies. In 2021, she moved to Nashville, Tennessee, and began her journey with Habitat for Humanity Williamson-Maury.
Now in her fifth year with Habitat, DeMoss oversees the organization’s communications and creative efforts, including public relations, social media, email marketing, graphic design, event planning, and day-to-day communications. She plays a key role in shaping the organization’s voice, telling stories of impact and connecting the community to Habitat’s mission of expanding access to safe, affordable housing across Middle Tennessee.
DeMoss also leads the planning and execution of Habitat Williamson-Maury’s annual benefit dinner, Hammers & High Heels, which brings together approximately 400 guests and raises more than $200,000 in support of affordable housing. From developing the event’s creative direction and marketing strategy to managing communications and community engagement, she oversees the many moving pieces that bring the event to life.
Passionate about leadership and professional development, DeMoss has completed the CLIMB Leadership Cohort through the Spring Hill Chamber of Commerce, the Young Leaders Council leadership program, and the Strategic Communications Certificate through the Center for Nonprofit Excellence. She also holds a Credential in Marketing and Communications from the Utah Nonprofits Association and has served as an intern on the Girls on the Run of Middle Tennessee Board of Directors.
Through her work, DeMoss is passionate about using creativity, strategic communications and community-centered storytelling to help nonprofits grow, engage their audiences, and inspire people to take action.
The Southwestern Pennsylvania native grew up in Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ and then moved to the Mon-Valley, where she graduated from high school. At Pitt-Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ, she became involved with the campus’s HFH student chapter in 2016.
“I helped with some local projects, but the spring break trips were profoundly impactful,â€ she noted. “I participated both my junior and senior years at Pitt-Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ and fell in love with the work and mission. It definitely set the course for my career, choosing to connect the lessons I was absorbing in the classroom for communications with my passion for getting involved and serving others.â€ That experience helped her to decide that she wanted to pursue a career in the nonprofit sector. “I’ve been with Habitat for Humanity Williamson-Maury for five years now, and two of my favorite memories have been being the host for a Pitt-Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ spring break trip and an alumni build! It was such a full-circle moment to be on the other side and facilitate this experience that was so meaningful for me.â€
